Gait Analysis Laboratory
Gait analysis refers to systematic evaluation, identification and assessment of motion. Gait analysis is implemented through physical examination and three dimensional motion assessments.
Physical Examination: Analysis is initiated with a detailed physical examination, assessment of joint motions (ROM-Range of motion) and measurement of movement angles of joints (goniometric measurements). During the examination, height, weight, leg length and joint range is measured.
3 Dimensional Motion Assessment: Movements of markers attached on the body of the patient are detected by infrared cameras and dv cameras as the patient walks on the walking platform, and are transferred to a special computer. The record on the computer are then evaluated in detail, in graphical and three dimensional format, and reported accordingly.
PET/CT is one of today’s most efficient imaging systems. It is used particularly in the field of oncology, for tumor detection, determining the degree of differentiation of the tumor, radiotherapy planning, assessing response to treatment, and in some cases, determining whether the mass is benign or malignant. PET/CT is a combination of positron emission tomography (PET) which provides functional imaging of human organs and tissues at a metabolic level, and computed tomography (CT) which provides detailed anatomical information. In addition to its use in the field of oncology, PET/CT is also used for identifying epileptogenic focus, in neurologic cases such Alzheimer’s disease, and in detection of viable heart tissue following a heart attack.
Used for the treatment of brain tumors without the need for surgery, the Gamma Knife is a tested and scientifically proven radiosurgical technique. The Gamma Knife allows for rapid and bloodless treatment of brain tumors, without need for precise and risky surgical operations. Gamma Knife therapy, which does not require general anesthesia, is completed within several hours and patients may return home on the same day.
CyberKnife, also known as the space scalpel, is the world’s first and only robotic radiosurgery system that is designed for treatment of cancer throughout the body, with an accuracy of less than a millimeter. CyberKnife system uses radiation clusters focally, delivering high doses of treatment to all cancerous areas of the brain and the body. It allows for maximum protection of normal and healthy tissues during the course of the treatment.
